It has now been 20 years since I first met Milcho. It was autumn
of 2002 when he travelled from L.A. to play as a special guest,
along with Vicky Almazidou, for the Magic Road Big Band, in
which I was playing bass and at that period I was the conductor,
too.
From then on, a strong friendship and a close collaboration
developed, going all the way until Milcho's passing away, in
autumn of 2019.
Milcho Leviev had been a great mentor to me, as well as a very
close friend.
A great musician that never repeated himself during
improvisations. A genuine improviser, making every single
moment surprising and revealing.
Surely an exquisite personality, full of joy; always a delightful
company.
The world will miss a great man and a great musician.
We will always remember you.
